Travel Tip: Tucson’s airport is exceptionally visitor-friendly with clear signage and a designated area for rideshare services, hotel pickups, and taxi cabs located right across from the terminal.

- Taxi or Rideshare (Lyft, Uber): Quick and convenient at only 20-25 minutes, taking a car offers beautiful views of the desert landscape during your ride.
- Bus: Takes approximately 1.5 hours to reach downtown Tucson

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton at the convention center, which offers spacious rooms with mountain views, comfortable king-size beds, and all the amenities you’d expect from a quality hotel. Not only that, but I traveled to Tucson to attend a conference the the DoubleTree is conveniently connected to the convention center, so I was never late to a session!

For lunch, I recommend trying authentic Mexican cuisine—one of the absolute must-try experiences when you visit Tucson. The city’s proximity to Mexico has influenced its incredible food scene.
Afterward, take some time to explore downtown:
- Admire the street art and colorful murals throughout the city
- Visit the historic Pima County Courthouse (filming location for the 1976 version of “A Star Is Born”)
- Enjoy the mountain views that create a picturesque backdrop to the city
Evening: Astronomy Experience and Piano Bar
Tucson is known as one of the best stargazing cities in the United States due to its low light pollution. I highly recommend visiting the Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium, especially during their adult-friendly date nights.

I enjoyed their filet mignon, but they also offer delicious lobster dishes, southwest steak, trout, and enchiladas.
